The Convergencia party denounced that the State violates the human rights of its leader Biagio Pilieri. He also expressed his rejection of the permanence of political prisoners
This December 28, the national coordinator of the Convergencia political party, Biagio Pilieri, served four months in prison, after the elections of July 28, from which results were obtained that favored Nicolás Maduro but that the arrested man did not know about and gave his support to Edmundo González, candidate of the Unitary Platform. His family and friends denounce that since his arrest and until now he has not had access to his trusted lawyers nor has he had the right to visits from his relatives.
Convergencia condemned the violation of the political leader’s human rights.
«It is inconceivable that 4 months have passed, and Biagio Pilieri, like the hundreds of political prisoners detained after July 28, remain incommunicado and totally isolated in El Helicoide. Pilieri is innocent of the crimes he is accused of, his only crime is being a politician in Venezuela,” Convergencia emphasized.

«We are very worried because we do not know how he is. Biagio Pilieri has a delicate health condition that includes problems with hypertension, fibromyalgia and digestive disorders, among others,” he recalled.
Convergence He cited figures from the Penal Forum to recall that to date at least 1,800 political prisoners are held in Venezuelan prisons.
“From Convergencia we demand his freedom, as well as that of all political prisoners in Venezuela and the cessation of intimidation and persecution against those who want a free and democratic country,” he said in a press release.
