The use of protective masks covering the nose and mouth is once again mandatory in health services and public and private transport in Belo Horizonte based on a decree signed by the mayor, Fuad Noman, and published today (18) in official diary of the Municipality?? The measure aims to contain the recent increase in cases of covid-19 and entered into force this Friday, with validity until December 2.
The prefecture determined in the decree that the mask must be used in public transport and in the respective passenger boarding and landing stations. Also included are school transport, taxi services and app transport.
The obligation also applies to health establishments and services in the municipality. The decree covers hospitals; emergency care units; basic and secondary health units; emergency mobile services; doctors’ office; clinics of different specialties, such as dentistry, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hemotherapy, lithotripsy, human cell and tissue banks, assisted human reproduction, dialysis and nephrology; human vaccination and immunization services; and diagnostic services open to the public, such as clinical analysis laboratories, imaging exams, graphic recordings and optical methods.
The decree also provides that the Municipal Secretary of Health will be able to provide for the requirement to use masks in specific situations and establishments.
In addition to establishing the mandatory use of masks for the entire population in the aforementioned places, the decree recommends the use of a mask in other closed places and by elderly people, with comorbidities or not vaccinated.
The Secretary of Health, Cláudia Navarro, pointed out that the municipality had an increase from 3% to 15% of the positivity of the tests for the detection of Covid-19 carried out in the network of the municipal secretary.
“During this period, we did not, however, have an increase in the number of deaths or hospitalizations in ICUs caused by the disease. So that Belo Horizonte does not register the situation again, we are announcing the return of the mandatory use of masks”, explained the secretary, yesterday (17), in an interview with the press.
