This Thursday, May 26, the Plenary Session of the Congress of the Republic approved the censorship of the head of the Ministry of Labor, Betssy Chavezand with it added one more official to the list of ministers who were removed during the government of President Pedro Castillo.
The first censorship of this management was on December 21, 2021, when Parliament decided to approve the motion against the then Minister of Education, Charles Gallardo.
The former member of the ministerial cabinet was questioned by its role in leaking the teaching test and its closeness to Fenate Peru, a teachers’ union that was founded by the head of state and which has former Movadef militants among its members and leaders.
The motion of censure against Gallardo was presented and promoted by the Renovación Popular bench and had the support of parliamentarians from Avanza País, Alianza para el Progreso, Fuerza Popular and Podemos Perú.
Subsequently, on March 31 of this year, the Legislative censured Hernan Condoriwho exercised the ownership of the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
The grounds for making this decision were based on the fact that Condori lacked suitability for the position, since he previously practiced as a doctor “inappropriately”.
Before becoming part of the Executive, Condori promoted arracimada water, a product to which he attributed beneficial properties for health, without scientific support. It also offered cervical cancer diagnostic services without having a gynecology or oncology specialty.
Finally, this Thursday, with 71 votes in favor, only 28 against and 12 abstentions, the plenary session of Congress censured the minister Betssy Chavezwho will have to leave office in the next few hours.
In the motion of censure against Chávez Chino, which was presented and promoted by the Fuerza Popular bench, it is detailed that the Minister of Labor would not have answered satisfactorily the questions that were asked of her in the interpellation against her, in reference to the strike of air traffic controllers, which caused thousands of people to miss their flights during the last Holy Week.
