Betis’ plan with Diego Lainez

Diego Lainez will be one of the players who abandons the discipline of Real Betis this summer, although the intention of the Verdiblanco club is to renew the current contract, which expires in June 2024, at least for one more season, and transfer it to one of the clubs that have been interested in Europe for their services.

Lainez arrived at Real Betis in January 2019 in exchange for the 14 million euros that the Verdiblanco club agreed with América de México for his transfer, although since his arrival he has not had continuity with either Quique Setién, Francesc Rubi or Manuel Pellegrini. In these more than three years as a Betis player, Lainez has barely played 2,646 minutes in total, spread over 72 games, in which he scored 4 goals and provided six assists.

Lainez, who turns 22 next week, is a regular in Tata Martino’s calls with the Mexican team, with whom he aspires to play his first World Cup in Qatar next winter. Real Betis is not currently interested in getting rid of Lainez, since his market value does not reach what was paid for him, so he prefers to transfer him to a club where he can have minutes that ensure his presence in the World Cup and It can be revalued, although before giving it up, the Verdiblanco club wants to negotiate with the Mexican’s agents its renewal for at least one more season.
