THE Samba wheel This Sunday (13), at 12h, interview the singer and songwriter Lu Carvalho, niece of Beth Carvalho (1946 – 2019). This month that complete six years of Beth’s death, the sambabook platform releases digital album in its honor.
In one of the tracks of the album, Lu Carvalho sings Shrimp that sleeps the waveby Arlindo Cruz, Beto without arm, and Zeca Pagodinho, Beth’s success in duet who launched Zeca Pagodinho. The new duet is from Lu with Mosquito (singer Pedro Assad Medeiros Torres).
“It had to be him, everyone says it’s Zeca’s face,” he jokes.
The samba wheel plays tracks from Beth Carvalho sambabook and also original recordings like Piece of Illusion, by Jorge Aragão, Jotabe and Sombrinha, favorite samba of Lu Carvalho in the voice of “Aunt Beth”.
In addition to the favorite songs, Lu shares with the listener the affective memories of his aunt. “She was very funny,” “laughed at a silly” and not even sick at the end of life “lost humor.”
According to her niece, the interest in music in the family comes from generations prior to Beth. The sambista’s father, João Francisco Leal de Carvalho, was a friend of Silvio Caldas and Aracy de Almeida.
The samba wheel is aired in the eight broadcasters of the National radio and will later be distributed in the National Public Communication Network (RNCP). The program is produced in partnership between Brazil agency and the National radio.
