The Betania publishing house, based in Madrid, has published the catalog of a collection of 37 Cuban-themed electronic books that can be downloaded for free on its website. The volumes are available in PDF format, and correspond to the publisher’s work between 2011 and 2023.
According to the introductory note to the catalog, Betania began offering free downloads of several of her books from her Blog in 2011. Among the titles offered by Betania stand out Conversations with Gastón Baquero –the first volume published by the publisher–, by Felipe Lázaro; the poems language of dumb, by Delfin Prats; the tales Nostalgia, irony and other hallucinationsby Amir Valle, and the memories today like yesterdayby Antonio Guedes.
Its collection offers books by authors both from the interior of the Island and from its exile, as well as writers from all over the Spanish-American sphere.
Betania was founded in Madrid in 1987 by the exiled Cuban poet Felipe Lázaro. It defines itself as a “publishing house at the service of Hispanic American culture”. Its collection offers books by authors both from the interior of the Island and from its exile, as well as writers from all over the Spanish-American sphere.
He has also maintained a “clear poetic vocation” by basically editing poetry books by relevant writers in Spanish, such as the Peruvian Alfredo Pérez Alencart. He has also published plays, essay books, fiction, and interviews. Betania’s publishing production is distributed in 14 collections.
Other notable authors edited by Betania are Dulce María Loynaz, Reinaldo Arenas, José Mario, Ángel Escobar, Raúl Rivero, Virgilio López Lemus, Daína Chaviano, Matías Montes Huidobro, Jorge Luis Arcos and Aimée González Bolaños.
