Besieged by the neighborhood leader Jesús Vera, who complained about the case, the former mayor of La Paz Luis Revilla appeared this Thursday at the La Paz Prosecutor’s Office to present his statement for the alleged purchase of the PumaKatari buses with a surcharge.
“Today I voluntarily presented myself to the Prosecutor’s Office to testify for the lies about #Pumakatari, strangely, Mr. Vera and his followers appeared to intimidate and attack me,” the former mayor wrote on his official Twitter account.
He also expressed that “the truth will come to light and someday justice will be served with those who burned our buses.”
“I have preferred to present myself to present my statement and present the documentation to disprove this set of falsehoods that, of course, have no basis. The PumaKatari has been the product of a public tender and has been awarded with the lowest price,” said Revilla while Vera waits a few meters away.

Revilla was summoned to testify last Monday; However, the former authority did not reach the premises of the Prosecutor’s Office. That day he indicated that he will appear to declare when “the conditions of the pandemic allow it.”
In addition, he announced that he will present evidence such as “the attached letter from the Vice Ministry of Transparency that in 2016 already established that there was no irregularity in the purchase of our Pumakatari buses.”
In October 2021, the faction of the Federation of Neighborhood Councils (Fejuve) of La Paz led by Vera filed a formal complaint against Revilla for allegedly overpricing in the purchase of the first fleet of PumaKatari buses. The supposed economic damage amounts to 26 million Bolivians, according to the leader.
In this regard, Revilla rejected Vera’s accusations: “It is not only ridiculous, but cynicism to the maximum expression,” said the former authority and reiterated that the complainant’s desire is to clean his image after the burning of more than 60 PumaKatari buses in the conflicts November 2019.
Vera was syndicated in that case, but was released in 2021. This Thursday, while Revilla testified before the press, he and a couple of people insulted the former mayor’s authority.
