Bertha Rojas, mother of Vladimir Cerrón and founding member of Perú Libre, officially announced her candidacy for the second vice presidency in her party’s presidential slate for the 2026 elections. Rojas explained that she accepted the candidacy due to “a call from the grassroots,” and clarified that her role will not be one of paternalistic support for her son: “I will not take care of my child with a bottle. I am a professional, a mother and a hardworking peasant woman, and that is how I present myself to the militancy,” he emphasized.
The candidate defended Perú Libre’s decision to make up its team with figures “trained in the party” after the management experiences of Pedro Castillo and Dina Boluarte.
“It is a strategy of political consolidation. We need leaders who know the party and represent its bases,” he pointed out. Regarding the legal questions to the candidacy of Vladimir Cerrón, Rojas assured that he will supervise his work when necessary: “I am not going to allow mistakes to be made against the majority. If it needs to be corrected, it will be corrected,” he stated.
Rojas also highlighted his government agenda.
“Our priority is quality education and health, as well as the strengthening of agriculture. We want an educated and healthy country, without exclusions or privileges,” Indian. He added that, if the opportunity to occupy a seat in the Senate presented itself, he would take it “in response to the call to represent the bases of Peru Libre.”
Likewise, the candidate criticized leaders who, according to her, have betrayed commitments to the party.
“Don Pedro (Castillo) lacked ideological solidity and Mrs. Dina (Boluarte) did not act faithfully. In Perú Libre no one is above the commitment to militancy,” he stated. Rojas is projected as a key figure of the pencil party, claiming his professional career and his link with rural communities, while Perú Libre formalizes its presidential plan in the internal elections.
I also affirm that on November 22, the Huancaí bases of Peru Libre with her at the head will carry out a sacrificial march towards the capital to request the revocation of the preventive detention that currently weighs on her son Vladimir, a march that will be replicated throughout the country later if they are not heard.
