Bernardo Bátiz V.: Leo XIV, Che and Fidel

Bernardo Bátiz V.

AND

n these days of ruling that already They end, they have caught the attention of public opinion and of course of mine, two news without apparent connection. The first was the invitation that the tireless (and indispensable) graduate Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Secretary of the Interior, made the newly elected Pope Leo XIV to visit Mexico. The other is a fact between absurd and Chusco, the withdrawal of the segmental sculptures of Fidel Castro Ruz and Ernesto Che Guevara, historical leaders of the Cuban Revolution, of a bench in the Park of the Tabacalera neighborhood; precisely to them that in life they have to have had little time to be sitting.

The three characters coincide in two data that I highlight: they are not Mexican, but for several reasons they are public opinion care center and the three respected by broad sectors of the Mexican people. Revolutionary politicians lived in our country before their revolutionary adventure and retired sculptures are a memory of that stay protected by the Mexican government and encouraged by politicians of the time, including Lázaro Cárdenas. When mentioning them, I recognize that from his group a third, Camilo Cienfuegos, who died when the plane he himself stared in the Caribbean always seemed more authentic.

From Fidel and Chewidely recognized by the Mexican people, I admire their struggle to free their homeland from such a negative tyrant, delivered to the United States, as was Batista.

However, I have not been in favor of resorting to violence and the use of weapons in political matters and I think that the best way to face an antidemocratic or dictatorial system is why the Mexican people chose in 2018.

The details that I make when relating the revolutionary leaders with the Roman pontiff, serve as a starting point, to reflect on the results of the so -called 4T. We are not Marxists or the change of regime violently was achieved, but we recognize the value and patriotism of those who, playing their lives, managed to free their country from a dictatorship that had turned Cuba into a space of debauchery and fun for their US neighbors.

Our Constitution defines us as a State that despite having a majority of Catholics, respects all religions and also to those who have none, freethinkers or skeptics; From the War of Reform, in the nineteenth century, it was achieved that was a second transformation, the separation between Church and State and, therefore, peaceful coexistence between both institutions that share their members that already, without any difficulty we can be simultaneously faithful of the Church and responsible citizens.

The revolutionary Barbons went to arms and managed to overcome the Pro Yankee regime with the weapons in hand and removed in the Sierra Maestra. In Mexico, in the first three transformations there was bloodshed and clashes between compatriots. The admirable of the 4T is that it managed to defeat a solid antidemocratic system that falsified the elections, controlled the armed forces, economic resources and foreign relations and, despite that, with the tenacity of the AMLO leader, at the third time he participated in elections, by force of votes, the change we know as 4T was achieved.

Through our history we first achieved the independence of the Spanish Empire. The war raised many, aroused hatreds and the executions of both sides were the order of the day; Finally, he took the firm step and Mexico managed to be a sovereign state, with a territory for then very extensive and not very well defined, it was the first transformation.

The second, which achieved the separation of Church and State, was also achieved through the reform war and then the fight against the Maximilian Empire so that the Mexican State did not have any religious definition and an air of greater freedom and tranquility was breathed, so that since then state and Catholic Church they have lived in relative tranquility only interrupted with the cristero war of the 20s of the last century.

The third transformation was the defeat of the dictatorships of Porfirio Díaz, first, and later by Victoriano Huerta. It is said that the Mexican revolution, third transformation, cost a million lives of fellow citizens.

Now, with the 4T, which had a culminating moment in 2018 and that it is a peaceful transformation, it was clear that we can invite the Pope who is in charge of the Catholic Church, without any fear and with all tranquility, without stopping being a secular state and we can also have quietly sitting in a bank of a park to two Marxist leaders, without being or dictatorship of the proletariat or a communist country.

The principles of social justice are clear based on ethics: first the poor, not lying, not stealing and not betraying the people.
