Nvited by jurists Nuevo León and militant friends of Morena, I was in the Technological of Monterrey at the end of last week, to talk about the judicial reform, which as we all know was a project presented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, a couple of weeks before his six -year period ended.
The reform was a political shaking, its implementation was in charge of the permanent constituent and under the attentive and judicious gaze of the President of the Republic, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum; It consisted that the Constituent determined that, from now on, those who manage justice: ministers and ministers, magistrates and magistrates, judges and judges, must reach their positions through popular, direct and secret vote. I also share that, in addition to that exhibition in the Tecthat was the one that reason my trip, I was invited to another, more political than academic, but with the same objective, explain the reasons and possible effects of the reform of the Judiciary. Those who invited me constitute a group with which I have participated in politics for about 20 years.
Since 2007, by impulse and invitation of AMLO, groups of citizens of opposition to the old regime under the name of “legitimate government” were formed throughout the country, I already touched the work of seeking and gathering citizens of that northern state and mainly of its capital, but also in other municipalities of the Mexican Northeast; I cannot fail to mention Montemorelos, Cerralvo, Guadalupe, China and better I stop, because I would fill the space of my collaboration with names of unforgettable places.
Of what I record, it is from the meeting in a house in Guadalupe, owned by the citizen Aurelio Arenas, which we know as the historical house, because she attended the national leader López Obrador on several occasions; In them a commemorative plaque was unveiled and it was there that Morena’s state committee was established; From it we left to tour the entity, every time it became necessary and that they were matched militants to the “legitimate government.” In the meetings there is friendship and commitment to the fourth transformation, but also democratic conviction and love of Mexico. The theoretical basis of the group is that the people are sovereign and, therefore, the one that governs, through popular and direct vote and of course, informed vote and under the slogan a thousand times repeated that “only the people save the people.”
Nothing more consistent with the two concepts that give rise to the word demospeople, and CRATOS, government; This is the people of the people and for the people. But on this occasion, of which I witnessed and participant, there was more than joy, much respect, fraternal coexistence and on that occasion animated by a regional dance group that bears precisely that name: joy.
The meeting was attended by some children, many young people, but also the group of mature women and men, with typical costumes, who executed the regional dances with which they entertain their celebrations; They are elderly or close to her but retain vitality, conviction and security that the political reason is on their part and that they are fighting with the smile in the mouth for social justice and for a democratic government. His spirit is jovial and cheerful.
Inspired by the political and friendly meeting in which I participated, I congratulate the group and thank you to have accepted and supported to understand the invisible league between the words “democracy” and “joy” that give title to this collaboration. The conviction of which it records in The day It is that the people opened their eyes, trusted their organization and their convictions and directly exercised the rights and powers that recognize the Constitution and laws and that, although in the previous great transformations, “independence”, “reform” and “Mexican revolution”, ran a lot of blood and there was a lot of pain, in this now, the “4t”, things happened differently and by way of the vote.
Joy and democracy are not at odds, they are two sides of the same currency and today I can refer to both concepts, one next to the other. Democracy is the Government of the People, but more and more from a cheerful people, who, without subtracting seriousness from their responsibilities, celebrated as it happened a few hours ago, at the great meeting of the capital Zócalo to which Dr. Sheinbaum convened, with enthusiasm, seriousness and without avoiding responsibilities, shoulder shoulder and shared convictions.
Not only was it a great feat to overthrow the old neoliberal regime; Perhaps, the most important thing was that this historical change was mainly achieved with a lot of conviction, sacrifices, political work and organization; But something deeper was possible that the fight has never overshadowed with hatred, grudges or violent confrontations; The miracle was to demonstrate that democracy is not at odds with joy or fraternity.
