Bernal: Táchira is a wall against attacks

“Táchira is a rearguard to pulverize any attempted attack by mercenaries and irregulars entering the 164.7 kilometers of border extension,” said Governor Freddy Bernal during the commemorative event of the 33rd anniversary of the Civil-Military Rebellion of November 27, 1992.

The Tachira president linked the bravery of the protagonists of that feat with the organization, training and current equipment to confront the threats from the United States against Venezuela. “They have deployed a military, naval, logistical and air operation with troops in the Caribbean. We are committed to peace. I will always be on the side of the people and peace,” he reiterated.

Bernal highlighted that air and territorial defense in the 29 municipalities is guaranteed by a system of operations for sovereignty. “Sufficient logistical support in weapons has arrived for those who have enlisted. The weapons have been distributed in each municipality,” he stressed.

The governor assured that the country is ready to guarantee peace, following the line of President Nicolás Maduro. “In contrast to Colombia, mired in the violence of criminal gangs, Táchira will be a retaining wall to pulverize violent groups wherever they come from,” he emphasized.

They impose the Great Shield of Táchira on the CETA group

The Legislative Council of the State of Táchira held a Special Session in the “Ligia Montoya” room to confer the “Great Shield of the State of Táchira” to the members of the Special Tactical Support Command (CETA) of the former Metropolitan Police, in recognition of their career, effort and dedication to the integral development of the entity.

The governor recalled that on November 27, 1992 “a group of young people from the Navy, the Aviation, the GNB, the Metropolitan Police, including the CETA, rebelled against the ignominy of that time.” Bernal, who led CETA, highlighted: “I had the honor of leading the PM and the CETA Group, and after 33 years I can say that none of those men have betrayed the ideals of the country; they remain unscathed by the principles of that historic feat.”
