In his statement, Ojeda argued that the FA lacks figures to act as “firewalls”, in reference to the historical role of Danilo Astori, former Minister of Economy and former Vice President during the Frente Amplista governments who died in 2023.
Asked about this, Senator Mario Bergara, from the Frente Amplio, responded emphatically from Rivera, where he is on tour with other elected senators from his party. “We are tired of the strange cuckoos, which we have heard since the 1960s,” he said. “It seems unbelievable that someone who claims to be the new politician repeats the verses from 50 years ago. The Frente Amplio governed for 15 years. The people have already seen the FA govern. You will have seen good things, others that you didn’t like. But we did not become anyone, neither in Venezuela nor in another country,” said Bergara.
The senator pointed out that the FA continues to be the main political force in the country, stating that “many people continue to support the FA” and that “others took away their support from us and now they supported us again.”
For her part, Senator Liliam Kechichian, who will leave her seat in the next period, also came out to the Ojeda intersection in X. “Dr. Ojeda promotes the crack. You will never find us on that path. Stop making caricatures and contribute some ideal,” the former Minister of Tourism also demanded.
