the president’s lawyer peter castle, benji espinozadenied that the author of the recent amparo lawsuit before the Judiciary is part of the president’s staff of legal defenders and assured that he does not share any argument with this document authored by Ananias Narro.
“I have made my annoyance (to Pedro Castillo) known, because it seemed like a surprising demand. I think they have taken advantage of the difficult situation that the president may have had at some point. That is what has happened, ”he explained to RPP.
Espinoza said that the amparo lawsuit has the signature of the head of state because he would have been surprised by Narro and because Pedro Castillo is not a lawyer, so he could have had some “hope” that this appeal would prosper.
“He doesn’t sign out of the blue. A lawyer comes, he presents you with a document that is not well founded. The president is not a lawyer. Perhaps because of the speed or haste, they will have told you that it is a solid demand […] In the end, I believe that the president has been able to have some hope there,” he specified.
Benji Espinoza highlighted his opposition to the foundations of this amparo claim that was filed before the First Constitutional Court of the Superior Court of Lima, which refrained from ruling because it declared itself incompetent for reasons of function or degree.
“The president has apologized to me, because there was a lack of coordination. Mr [Ananías] Narro is not a lawyer for the president, he has been able to obtain the signature of the head of state, but that does not mean that he is part of the team,” he said.
