The Benian governor, Alejandro Unzueta, offered the city of Trinidad as a space to establish dialogue between arcistas and evistas, with the aim of lifting the blockades throughout the country.
“As the Departmental Government of Beni, we express our deep concern for the prolonged road blockades, which have severely impacted the already weakened economy of the department and the daily lives of our families. The shortage of food, lack of fuel and the paralysis of key product sectors in Beni require urgent solutions, in a context of disaster due to fires and shortages“, begins the governor’s letter addressed to President Luis Arce Catacora.
He adds that “it is essential to restore free transit to guarantee the rule of law and the well-being of the population. “We urge the parties to exhaust dialogue and look for peaceful alternatives that do not violate the rights of Bolivians.”
That is why, “We make ourselves available to facilitate spaces for dialogue in Trinidad, in order to reach agreements that allow us to resume our activities normally”, points out the document signed by Unzueta.
