Beneficiaries of the Mides will obtain scholarships to complete the upper secondary education cycle

The Ministry of Social Development (Mides) presented on the afternoon of Tuesday the 26th a scholarship program for 20 participants in its programs to access extra-age courses at the Elbio Fernández School and Lyceum. The beneficiaries will be able to complete the upper secondary education cycle, in virtual and face-to-face modalities, in four-month modules, thanks to an agreement between both institutions.

The activity was attended by the Minister of Social Development, Martín Lema; the undersecretary of Social Development, Andrea Brugman; the national director of Social Development, Cecilia Sena; the pedagogical coordinator of the extra-age baccalaureate of Liceo Elbio Fernández, Mariana Galán; and the president of the Society of Friends of Popular Education (SAEP), Enrique González de Toro.

In his speech, Lema highlighted the support provided by the educational institution and highlighted the willingness and desire to excel of the recipients of the scholarships. Likewise, he mentioned the existence of “a chain of generosity” in society that allows generating alternatives such as these twenty opportunities to complete secondary studies. This will allow “an opening of doors” for students, he considered.

The selected beneficiaries participate in proposals promoted by the different institutions that make up Mides, such as the Social Cooperatives and Associative Processes, Human Rights, Promotion of Public Policies for Afro-descendants and the territorial offices of the interior.

The school cycle will be developed in a virtual and blended form and will be distributed in four-month periods.
