The last payment cycle of the previous year, which began on December 20, is about to end.

The Department of Social Prosperity (DPS) continues with the operation of the Colombia Mayor programdesigned to provide financial assistance to older adults who are in conditions of poverty or extreme poverty. The main purpose of this initiative is to deliver regular monetary transfers, aimed at a population segment that faces financial restrictions and that, in many cases, lacks other sources of income.

During the year 2024, The program carried out a total of twelve payment cycles. These disbursements have made it possible to guarantee a constant flow of resources to the beneficiaries, helping to cover priority needs. The continuity of these transfers has represented significant support for older people who do not have access to pension systems or other forms of stable income.

The last payment cycle of the previous year, which began on December 20, is about to end. Beneficiaries have until Tuesday, January 7, to withdraw the resources corresponding to this transfer.

It is important that these citizens verify if they received the message with the availability of the money order so that they can go to the payment points to withdraw the money, since Failure to receive aid is one of the reasons for ceasing to be beneficiaries.

What are the causes for stopping receiving the Colombia Mayor subsidy?

The beneficiaries of this program are not exempt from losing aid, since in cso that they no longer meet the following requirements, They may be discharged from financial aid.

  • Death of the beneficiary.
  • Verification of falsehood in the information provided or attempt to retain the subsidy fraudulently.
  • Receiving a pension.
  • Reception of an income, understood as the profit or benefit obtained from some activity or good, in an amount greater than that established in numeral 3 of article 30 of Decree 3771 of 2007, modified by Decree 4943 of 2009.
  • Reception of another old-age subsidy in cash, which, added to that of the Social Protection Program for the Elderly, is greater than half the SMMLV granted by some public entity.
  • Proven begging as a productive activity.
  • Transfer to another municipality or district.
  • No consecutive collection of subsidies scheduled in four installments (two installments for municipalities with bimonthly payment).
  • Voluntary retirement.
