In less than a year, the pension fund for well -being has substantially increased resources in favor of pensioners, going from about one million pesos at the beginning of the program (in July 2024) to more than 16 million last April.
Likewise, the figure of beneficiaries multiplied by 12 in the first 10 months of operation of the program, created by decree in the last section of the six -year term of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Information from the Ministry of Finance and Credit (SHCP) shows that in July last year the fund supported 268 pensioners, for which a budget of about one million pesos was allocated.
For April of this year (the most recent payment), the number of beneficiaries had grown to 3,236 people and the distributed resources added 16.4 million pesos.
Of that total, 15.2 million pesos were for pensioners by the Mexican Social Security Institute and 1.3 million for those of the Institute of Social Security and Services of State Workers.
According to the Treasury data, the resources and the number of pensioners have been on the rise.
As for the beneficiaries, in the second month of operation (August), the figure had increased to 552 people; For September they added 740; In October they reached a thousand 208; In November last year they reached 1,635; In December the total was 1,992; In January 2025 the number of pensioners grew to 2,446; In February there were 2,692; Last month 2 thousand 903 and in April they added 3 thousand 236.
The increase in the number of pensioners has led federal authorities to raise the investment amount for this fund. Thus, it began with the delivery of about one million pesos in July 2024; In August they added 3 million, 4 million in September and, 7.5 million a month; In November the resources amounted to 9.2 million pesos and in December there were 10.9 million.
In January of this year, 13 million pesos were channeled to pensioners; In February there were 13.4, on March 14, and the April contribution was 16.4 million.
Recently, at the Mañanera Conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum, it was reported that the pension fund for well -being has a balance of 46 thousand 976 million pesos and, to maintain current yields, will guarantee its coverage for the next two decades.
