The Minister of Labor of the province of Buenos Aires, Walter Correaaffirmed this Thursday that Axel Kicillof is “the natural candidate of the workers” to be re-elected as Buenos Aires governor and warned that “it cannot be allowed” that Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner “be proscribed”.

In statements made to Radio Provincia, the official referred to the possibility that the Governor Kicillof is presented as a candidate for re-election: “He is the natural candidate of the workers and the workers, also of the sectors of the cooperatives and the SMEs”, he said.

“The compañeros and compañeras tell you on a day-to-day basis: Axel has to renew,” Corra said, stating that “it makes things easier to be a minister of a governor whom the workers love very much.”

Within this framework, he said that he dreams and fights “so that Cristina stops being banned and, later, she can do what she wants” regarding an eventual presidential candidacy and added that “after having recovered democracy, with 30,000 comrades missing, we cannot allow the comrade to be outlawed.”

In another part of the interview, the official referred to the joint meetings that have already begun with the representatives of state workers and teachersand assured that there is a commitment from Governor Axel Kicillof to “improve the salary situation of workers from Buenos Aires.”

“The joint negotiation was resumed after having agreed on a compromise to do it in January. It was done. It was the first meeting. The comrades from the union organizations came with their positions, they listened and discussed,” he said.

The minister opined that “the commitments of both parties come from a constant and permanent dialogue”, he pointed out that it is not about an “orthodox parity”, but about “a table of compañeras and compañeros” and stressed: “Last year he remained in those terms: to have a clear conception that we are all workers and workers”.

Although he did not mention the percentage increases that the government will offer to the unions, Correa asserted that “the province makes a great effort” to improve the salaries of employees and graphed that “last year we exceeded 102% per year.”

“The exercise of parity was returned to us by Kirchner in 2003, after having lost it during the dictatorship. If the opposition wins, the workers may lose them. With (former governor) María Eugenia Vidal, the workers lost 20% of purchasing power,” concluded.
