Belo Horizonte will have a second round with Bruno Engler and Fuad Noman

Candidates Bruno Engler (PL) and Fuad Noman (PSD) will contest the second round of elections in Belo Horizonte. Engler had 34.42% of the valid votes and Noman had 26.45%.Belo Horizonte will have a second round with Bruno Engler and Fuad Noman

So far, 93.83% of the ballots have been counted.

Bruno Engler is running for mayor of the capital of Minas Gerais for the second time. He is 27 years old and will serve his second term as state deputy for Minas Gerais in 2022. He studied law, but did not complete the course. He helped found the Direita Minas movement and declares himself Catholic. He is the youngest candidate to run for mayor of Belo Horizonte.

Fuad Noman is 77 years old, a writer, economist and a career civil servant at the Central Bank. He took over as mayor of BH after the resignation of Alexandre Kalil, who ran for government of Minas Gerais. He was part of the Fernando Henrique Cardoso government as executive secretary of the Civil House and of the government of Minas Gerais as secretary of Finance and Transport. At the city hall of BH, he even commanded the Municipal Finance Department.
