Minister Fratti evaluated visit to Brazil, also highlighted the issue of resident doctors

After his participation in the recent edition of Expo Melo, the Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries made an evaluation of his visit to several States of Brazil last week.

The Secretary of State, despite the fact that he is not now part of Parliament, celebrated the intention to definitively launch the Resident Doctors system in small towns, a project that he promoted in the previous period and that for various reasons never came to fruition.

“We went to Brazil for two reasons. On the one hand, a private company at their expense invited us to visit São Paulo to see how what they call smart caravan works, which has many uses” held the Dr. Alfredo Fratti.

“This Company presented itself to the call that we made together with the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) and the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), a call that is being processed to see which one meets the objectives that were established” he commented. “They wanted to show us the power of the group, how it is manufactured, they are the same people who make panels for airplanes, which means that the level is assured” the Minister stated.

“On the other hand, they got us an interview, for that reason we also went to Brasilia, with the Minister” he pointed out.

“We wanted to advance on several issues, but one above all is bioinputs” he pointed out. “Bioinputs are something that has been talked about in Uruguay for a long time, but little has been done. We want to move more firmly in this for both livestock and agriculture” said.

He explained that when talking about bioinputs we are referring to natural products. In that sense, Fratti gave as an example an experience that a professional in the department of Tacuarembó is developing to combat the tick. “It is fighting it with an organic medicine. The same thing happens with the issue of agriculture. We believe that Uruguay has a lot of room to develop. We have trained people, it seems to me that we should follow the path of Brazil” he opined. “It is a country that is quite advanced, they have just voted for a law to determine how these products are registered, which is different from how we register chemical-based products.” express.

RESIDENT DOCTORS

Several departments will benefit from this project that was approved unanimously in the previous legislature, but due to bureaucratic obstacles it was never put into practice.

During the time when he was the Provincial Council for Cerro Largo, the current Minister of Livestock made all possible arrangements so that small towns would have a Resident Doctor.

In Cerro Largo, the initiative provided that the doctors should settle in Arévalo, Plácido Rosas and Laguna Merín.

“We feel enormous joy. On this occasion we have nothing to do with it, but it was an idea that we promoted in the last Legislature that the ASSE commanders at that time did not like” lamented Dr. Fratti.

“It seemed absurd to me that something that Parliament approved unanimously, and believe me it is not easy for a Law to have unanimity, had not passed. When all the legislators voted for it I thought it was finalized” he remembered.

“Now, on their own initiative from ASSE they tell me that they are not going to start with 10 locations, but they are going to select Doctors for 8 places, within those 3 are for Cerro Largo” he stated.

“They improved the proposal, from an economic point of view and also in its essence because along with the Doctor there will be a Graduate or a Nursing Assistant based in the place. For these populations, having that will be a before and after” considered the Minister of Livestock.
