The Incahuasi island, located in the Salar de Uyuni, Potosí, was the scene in which 34 couples got married this Friday morning in a striking collective marriage.
Nearly a thousand people, including relatives, authorities and the media, witnessed the event.
The director of the Civic Registry Service (Serecí) of Potosí, Kieffer Condori, informed Page Seven Digital that, of the total, 20 couples are from the department of Potosí, but another 14 came to the largest salt mirror in the world from different parts of the country.
“There are 34 couples (those who got married), 20 from the region and 14 from the interior of the country; contemplated between Santa Cruz, La Paz, Cochabamba and Potosí (…). What we did in the Salar was on the Incahuasi island”, said Condori in contact with this medium.
The event was carried out normally, with a capacity between 800 and 900 people; the collective marriage began with a delay of one hour, since it was scheduled for 10:30 and started at 11:30.

“It has been carried out normally with a little delay, because the couples took a while to arrive and began to get ready (for admission). We started at 11:30 and it was scheduled for 10:30. And it ended at 2:30 p.m. ”, specified the authority of the Serecí.
In this context, he announced that the Serecí is planning another similar event. Couples can now get married at the Casa de la Moneda, in the city of Potosí.
“We plan to carry out in Potosí, in the Casa de la Moneda, in July, where we have some pre-registered and in the 2022 administration we also have another activity planned in the municipality of Pocoata, in the Chayanta province, there we have confirmed 17 couples, “he announced.
