The figure demonstrates the great interest of visitors from different parts of the world in getting to know the hydroelectric plant up close, as well as the other attractions of Alto Paraná, thus benefiting the hotel, gastronomic and commercial sector of the region.
Some 3,682 foreign tourists already observed, at the end of January, the show offered by Itaipu with the opening of the gates of its landfill.
Of this total number, the Brazilians were the majority with 1,630 people registered for the visit to the dam, followed by Argentines, who totaled 1,264; and Chileans, 277. In addition to these and other South American countries, the Binacional also received foreigners from North and Central America, as well as from more distant countries, such as Spain and France, or Russia and Finlandamong others.
Rosa Lidia del Pozo Sánchez, from the Dominican Republic, mentioned that it is the first time he had the opportunity to know Itaipu and that she was fascinated with everything observed. She described the Hydroelectric Power Plant as “a wonder of the world” and that it was like a dream to meet him up close.
“We are in Paraguay to participate in a forum and we could not miss the opportunity to see this dam. We found out about the opening of the floodgates through social networks and we organized ourselves, among my compatriots, to come ”, he commented.
In addition to these 3,682 foreigners, they have already visited the hydroelectric -since the opening of the gates- 10,469 Paraguayans, totaling 14,151 tourists from different countries, until the end of January.
