The president of Jucopo commented that the services available in the Senate, such as shoe cleaning, banking and food, are not only for senators but for those who come to the legislative chamber.
He commented that the decision made about what will happen with this beauty salon must be symmetrical with what is already happening in the Chamber of Deputies, since he said that being a bicameral system there should be no asymmetries. In San Lázaro there are haircut and grooming services for legislators, but these are paid for by them.
For this reason, the Morenista senator commissioned the Secretary of Administrative Services, Óscar Trinidad Palomera Cano, to make a list of all the services offered in the Senate and then carry out the review.
For his part, the PAN coordinator, Ricardo Anaya, commented that his party asked at the Jucopo meeting for the suspension of this service, since it is not justified and citizens are not going to accept that senators have privileges that the vast majority of people do not have in their workplaces.
“It is not up to us to make the decision, but it is up to us to establish a position and our position is very clear: we consider, without a personal attack on any person, that the service should be suspended for reasons of prudence, of respect for citizens who do not have this type of services in their workplaces,” he said.
Last week, the existence of a beauty salon in the Senate, which provides beauty services to senators, generated controversy.
It was presumed that the beauty salon was enabled by Senator Andrea Chávez, but she denied it on her social networks and in a statement.
“I have not opened any beauty salon nor am I the one in the photo, nor do I do my hair in the Senate, nor does anyone do my hair,” said the senator.
