After six years full of medals and titles for Brazilian beach volleyball, the duo André and George announced the end of their partnership in a statement published on social media this Wednesday (16). They said goodbye to the fans during the stage of the world circuit in João Pessoa (Paraíba), which started today and continues until Sunday (20), in the arena set up in Praia do Cabo Branco. Afterwards, André and George will only return to work together in December, in the Finals (definition of the world title), in Doha (Qatar), between the 4th and 7th.
The duo recorded a video message on the beach, in which each highlighted the importance of friendship on and off the court.
“The time has come to announce that our partnership will come to an end. Our last tournament will be the Elite 16 in João Pessoa. We were one of the most winning pairs in recent times and it is not a door that closes. The friendship continues between us and no one knows the future”, he said Andrew.
George admitted that the decision was not easy, but it was necessary under the circumstances.
“He is an out-of-the-box guy and everything he does will work out. I think we are also saddened by this news, but they are different plans for the future, and the right thing for everyone was for everyone to follow their own path. But the affection remains”, guaranteed George.
During the long-lasting partnership that began in 2019, André and George won gold at the Pan American Games in Santiago (Chile) last year, won several stages of the world circuit and won the Brazilian circuit of the sport three times. At the Paris Olympics, the pair ended up in the round of 16.

Currently, Andre and George are the best placed Brazilian men’s pair on the world circuit. They occupy third position, with 6980 points. In the lead are the Dutch Boermans and De Groot (7140) and in second place the Swedish Ahman and Hellvig (7100). The other pair from Brazil is formed by Evandro and Arthur (6360), who occupy sixth place.
