They announced that there will be new radars on routes in Uruguay: where and from when

The Ministry of Transportation assured that the installation of the devices is due to the fact that a “high accident rate” has been recorded.

The Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) announced that it will install five new radars on national routes to control the speed of vehicles. The ministry’s argument about the location of the devices is that a “high accident rate” has been recorded there.

The objective, according to the text, is to “strengthen safety and reduce traffic accidents.” In turn, they explained that the new devices will begin to be fined as of February 1.

WHERE THE NEW RADARS WILL BE

  • Route 1 – Junction with Camino Basilio Muñoz (km 20)

Level intersection with converging vehicular flows and high pedestrian circulation in Santiago Vázquez. In this section the maximum traffic speed will be adjusted to 75 km/h.

  • Route 9 – Western access to the city of Rocha (km 205,380)

Suburban section that has a bicycle lane adjacent to the road and frequent circulation of vulnerable users. In this section the maximum traffic speed remains at 60km/h.

  • Route 26 – Western access to the city of Río Branco (km 85)

This is a curve with reduced visibility and a high concentration of traffic accidents. In this section the maximum traffic speed will be readjusted to 45km/h.

  • Route 5 – With Camino la Redención (km13,400).

Until now, a mobile radar from the Ministry of the Interior is monitoring there. In this section the maximum traffic speed remains at 75km/h.

  • Route 5 – With Camino Fauquet (km 17,680)

Until now, a mobile radar from the Ministry of the Interior is monitoring there. In this section the maximum traffic speed remains at 75km/h.
