BCR: Textile exports grew 33% in May, reaching US$ 175 million

Textile-clothing exports grew 32.1% in the first two months

Exports of non-traditional textile products totaled US$175 million in May, an increase of 33% compared to the same month in 2021, reported the Central Reserve Bank of Peru ().

He indicated that this impulse is mainly due to greater shipments of t-shirts and knitted shirts for men and children, basically to the United States.

The average export volume increased 19.5% compared to May 2021, while prices increased by 11.3% in the same period.

The monetary entity detailed that foreign sales of textile products accumulated a value of US$760 million in the first five months of 2022, 31.4% higher than those registered in the same period last year.

The main destination markets for our non-traditional textile products were the United States, with US$96 million, Chile and Colombia, with US$12 million and US$8 million, respectively.

At the level of economic blocks, the BCR maintained that interannual sales of textile products to Latin America increased by 36.3% and to the Andean countries, by 44.9%.
