BCR: remittances grew 9.4% in the third quarter

The remittances of Peruvians abroad totaled US$1,343 million in the third quarter, which meant a growth of 9.4% compared to the same period in 2024, revealed the Central Reserve Bank (BCR).

This amount is also higher than the US$1,341 million registered in the second quarter of this year, according to BCR data. In that sense, it revealed that the level of remittances represents the highest value recorded since the statistical compilation on this indicator.

The Central Reserve Bank also specified that the United States remains the main country of origin of these resources.

Likewise, he pointed out that in the third quarter, remittances were equivalent to 1.5% of the Peruvian Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This percentage is almost similar to that of the same quarter of the previous year.

It should be noted that, in 2024, remittance shipments from Peruvian workers abroad amounted to US$4,495 million, that is, an increase of 11.2% when compared to what was registered in 2023.
