The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) today put into circulation a Commemorative silver coin for the 100 years of reincorporation of the province of Taratain Tacna, to Peru.

This special piece, which will be part of the limited emissions of the entity, will have a circulation of only five thousand units and will be of a legal year, circulating next to the current currencies in use.

According to the circular No. 0014-2025-BCRP, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano, the currency has a nominal value of S/1, is manufactured in silver of 0.925 purity and weighs an ounce.

In addition, the new commemorative currency by the centenary of reinstatement of Tarata Peru has a diameter of 37mm, striated song and proof quality, with a high brightness finish and precise details.

On the reverse, Tarata Square is seen, with the church of San Benedictodelante and agricultural Andenería – even used – back. Up, “Reincorporation of Tarata al Peru” and the period “1925-2025” is read.

On the obverse, the coat of arms of Peru appears, accompanied by the legend “Central Reserve Bank of Peru”; Also, the year of coinage (2025) and its legal denomination, “a sun”.

This initiative is part of the efforts of the BCR for promoting numismatic culture and paying tribute to the historical facts that marked national identity.

The reincorporation of Tarata in 1925 was a milestone in the history of the country, as it meant the recovery of the province after remaining under Chilean administration from the Pacific War, a fact that was formalized with the Treaty of Lima.
