The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) put into circulation the fourth coin of S/ 1 of the numismatic series “Builders of the Republic – Bicentennial 1821-2021″, within the framework of the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru.
This coin, which has been in circulation since May 4, 2022, bears the image of Manuel Lorenzo de Vidaurre, who was born in Lima on May 19, 1773 and died on March 9, 1841.
He graduated with a doctorate in Law and Canons from the University of San Marcos in 1802. Author of the books Cartas Americanas and Plan del Perú, he thought that the problems of the colonies could be solved with reforms emanating from the Spanish Crown and without reaching the separation . He gradually moved away from his reformist position, resigning from his Spanish magistracy to accept emancipation and, therefore, the republican government.
