The general manager of BBVA PeruFernando Eguiluz, reflected on the growing citizen insecurity in the country and warned about the need to act urgently, firmness and a clear strategy to face this phenomenon.
“We cannot continue with this threat of going to the streets, to see that things do not work as they should, to see microentrepreneurs, small SMEs with extortion. We cannot allow that,” Eguiluz urged.
The Executive stressed that, despite the deterioration of the safety conditions in the streets, Peru is still in time to reverse the situation. He stressed the importance of a joint action that involves the State, the private sector and civil society.
“I come from Mexico and I want to tell you that, if you do not act firmly, quickly and especially with strategy, this problem continues to grow. There comes a time when you can no longer stop it and that it becomes a national security problem,” he warned.
The Executive said that to face the problem it is also essential to prevent it from the root, moving away the young people of crime through education, sports and promotion of values.
“We are more who want to live in peace, we are more who want to have peace of mind and security. Let us not let a few take this great freedom we have,” he concluded.
