Battistini: Participation of Venezuelans abroad in primaries is essential

Battistini on reopening the border: In economic matters there are "more doubts than certainties"

Until now, the Primary Commission has not defined whether Venezuelans abroad will be able to vote in these elections. For the political leader Eduardo Battistini, if the administration of Nicolás Maduro prevents the vote of Venezuelans abroad in a possible presidential election, “we will be seven million promoting that those inside vote”

The leader of Primero Justicia Eduardo Battistini He assured this Tuesday the 21st that the participation of Venezuelans abroad in the opposition primaries, scheduled for October 22, is a “fundamental” process.

“Those of us who are outside are no less Venezuelans than those who are inside (…) The regime has stolen everything from us, let us return this right to participation to ourselves. This is our process!” Battistini insisted in a series of messages on his Twitter account.

He affirmed that the primary process is necessary to choose a presidential candidate who “will give us hope.”

In addition, he considers that if the administration of Nicolás Maduro prevents the vote of Venezuelans abroad in a possible presidential election, “we will be seven million promoting that those inside vote.”

Until now, the Primary Commission has not defined whether Venezuelans abroad will be able to vote in these elections. The decision involves defining the electoral roll that will be allowed to vote, that is, if it is limited only to those registered in the Electoral Registry or a new roll is created. Financial resources must also be available to assume the organization of this event in various cities around the world.

Currently, just over 107,000 Venezuelans are registered in the Electoral Registry to exercise their right abroad, according to data from the National Electoral Council (CNE), which the Commission has asked to authorize technical support for the use of that registry, in order to the voting points that the body already has and the voting machines without biometric identification.
