This urban cable car is part of the federal government’s “Chapultepec, nature and culture” project and is one of the means of transport that has had various modifications in dates for its construction and delivery of the final work.
Construction began in November 2022 and had a Completion date for September 2023however, had a first postponement until December 2023.
Due to protests by groups of residents of Miguel Hidalgo and Álvaro Obregón, as well as environmental organizations due to the felling of trees, the work suffered another Construction delay until mid-2024.
According to the Sixth Government Report of Martí Batres, it had a final investment of 2,315 million pesos and a new date of Completion by November 2024two years after the start of its construction, which will be inaugurated under the mandate of the elected head of government, Clara Brugada.
Metro Line 1
After completing the renovation of Line 1 of this transportation system from Pantitlán to Salto del Agua with delays of more than six months, in November 2023 the closure of the second section of this route between Balderas and Observatorio began for its remodeling.
Batres did not specify a date for reopening and completion of the work.so it is expected that this work will be completed by the incoming administration.
Metro Line 9
In December 2023, the Mexico City Government announced the closure of the Pantitlán, Puebla and Ciudad Deportiva stations on Metro Line 9 due to subsidence affecting the area.
The initial goal was to complete the works in May 2024, but in his Sixth Report, Martí Batres extended the deadline again. It has not been confirmed whether the works will be completed before the end of his administration, however on September 5, energy and resistance tests began on the tracks with empty trains.
To the list of pending works Added to this is the expansion of Metro Line 12, which runs from Mixcoac to Observatorio, a project inherited by Martí Batres from the administration of Claudia Sheinbaum, who in turn received it from Miguel Ángel Mancera.
In addition, Batres will leave unfinished the Observatorio station of the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train, a project started during the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, and the Vasco de Quiroga station, both of which will now be in the charge of Clara Brugada for their completion.
It has also sparked controversy in the last stretch due to reforms such as that on private property. The publication of a decree that modifies section A of Article 3 of the Constitution of Mexico City, to align it with Article 27 of the federal Constitution, generated controversy by eliminating the word “private” in the section on property.
Which was already clarified by both the Government of Mexico City and by specialists. The 116th public notary and former attorney general of the Republic, Ignacio Morales Lettuce He categorically ruled out that private property is at risk, according to what is interpreted with the homologation of both articles, however he criticized the lack of clarity with which the government of Mexico City issued said constitutional modification in the middle of the discussion of the Judicial Reform in the federal Congress.
