Bathrooms in public institutions have problems

Bathrooms in public institutions have problems

In it public sector of the Dominican Republic There is a hygiene problem that affects a good part of the institutions that depend on the State. It is about the bathrooms of common use, which in many cases require a remodeling urgent, for three main reasons. First, they are obsolete and broken. Second, they do not meet health standards. Third and last, they give a bad image.

The bathrooms public are used every day by hundreds of people in the country. However, in some dependencies are poorly maintained. Here are some examples.

The UASDa problem that comes from afar

The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) has been burdened with this problem for years. On the university campus there are some bathrooms located on the outside of buildings. These, from the outside, look decent. But their structure, with recent paint, does not do justice to what is inside.

Inside, in the toilet area, the wall is falling apart, revealing cement and a sharp white sheet that could be dangerous. Some of these wall parts are on the floor, tucked away in a corner. The toilets, of course, are not working very well. Some of them collect waste and have a yellowish colour.

On one of the walls, instead of a light switch, there is a hole with two cables hanging from it. One red, the other black. Aesthetically, not very nice. Functionally, useless. In terms of safety: dangerous. There, students are preparing to work for a better country.

In the bathrooms of the Police does not prevail order

The Palace of the Police Nacional is not exempt from this bad practice. Its bathroomsalthough they do not reach the level of disorder of the UASDare also in poor condition. Without a doubt, at a level below what the institution is.

In the common area, the sink area is being invaded by yellow dirt that spreads across the marble, leaving a sign of neglect. In turn, in one of the corners, a dirty wall serves as a support for some cleaning utensils, such as a mop and a brush.

In the toilet area, it is difficult to find a toilet paper holder in good condition. Instead, they hang on the wall, half open. Worthy of an abandoned building, but the Police it is not.

He Ministry of Labor does not accept work from remodeling

One of the most important ministries in the country, Labor, has one of the bathrooms for public use in worse condition.

Upon entering, you can see that the inside handle of the door is broken, leaving a sharp piece of iron behind. It is also rusty. Once inside, on the left, a raised, rusty door hides some cleaning utensils that, contrary to what their name suggests, are dirty.

Further on, one of the keys, bent for who knows why, is the beginning of a crack that runs through the ceramic in a circular shape. It seems that they tried to fix it with a patch. But that doesn’t work, patches don’t.

Where one problem ends, another begins. This is what happens when you enter one of the toilets. It is not surprising to see that one of the lids, the one used to sit on, has been removed. For a worker at the Ministry of Labor It must be difficult to do your business with a minimum of dignity.

The National Library Pedro Henriquez Ureña begins to decline

Not all bathrooms of the public sector are in poor condition. Some are well maintained. Others show the first signs of decay. National Library Pedro Henriquez Ureña it’s an example.

Before entering, a blue sign indicates the disabled area. However, some parts of the writing on the sign are not clear. braille They are torn off, so a blind person would not be able to read it properly.

Once inside, if you look up, you can see a crumbling roof with broken ventilation.

He Postal Institute need a shipment of workers

The “worst bathroom award” goes to the Postal Institute Dominican (Inposdom). The dark color of the walls camouflages dirt that cannot be hidden in the rest of the bathroom.

The floor, first of all, remains dirty and worn. Wet cement can be seen under the keys. The marble, which should be dark in colour, looks whitish and unkempt. If you need to clean your hands, you will find a crooked, disjointed appliance without paper.

None of the dispensers have paper. None of them are in good condition. Above one of them there is a sign that says: “Please throw papers in the trash can.” However, it is half destroyed.

Another option for cleaning your hands is a hand dryer. It looks old and vintagebut the secret is that it is neglected and full of rust.

He public sector of the Dominican Republic It has a rust problem, lack of care and cleaning in bathrooms for general use. Its institutions are supported by taxes from the population.
