Baseball prospect who died in Guanuma lagoon was sharing with five other teenagers

Police agents, in coordination with the Public Ministry, are investigating the circumstances in which a 15-year-old teenager who allegedly drowned on Wednesday afternoon in a lagoon located in the Guanuma sector, Sierra Prieta, La Victoria municipality, in Santo Domingo Norte, lost his life, behind the baseball academy where he practiced with several classmates.

The victim was identified as Yansel Rincón, a baseball prospect whose body was recovered from the aforementioned tributary, near the stadium where he was training.

According to preliminary versions, the young man was sharing with five other teenagers.

The National Police reported that the minors present at the scene will be interviewed by the Public Ministry of Children and Adolescents, as part of the process to clarify what happened and determine responsibilities, if any.

The spokesperson for the National Police, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, indicated that the corresponding investigations are being carried out to precisely establish the circumstances of the incident, while expressing condolences and solidarity with the minor’s relatives in the face of this tragic loss.
