MADRID, Spain.- In recent days, receiver Alfredo Fadraga managed to escape from Cuba, who had been suspended for life from the sport on the island in July of this year for trying to leave the national team abroad.
Fadraga, 23, is already in the Dominican Republic, where he will try to find a professional firm, as reported through the social network Twitter the journalist specialized in baseball Francys Romero.
“Now that he was able to leave the island, Fadraga has enormous potential to get a professional firm,” Romero said.

In June 2022 Fadraga, along with pitcher Yosvany Ávalos, tried to leave Team Cuba with which they traveled to Aguascalientes, Mexico, to participate in the U-23 Pan American Baseball Championship.
The baseball players were captured by the Aguascalientes Public Security Secretariat, at the request of the Cuban regime, after they left the Ramada hotel, where the delegation was staying.
The Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) subsequently reported on your return to the Island without finishing the tournament and described his decision as a failure “to the commitment made with the delegation and the homeland.”
The note also indicated that the players “incurred in reprehensible acts”, which are condemned by the Cuban authorities “since the decision not to give up before this or other obstacles.”
During his time as an athlete in Cuba, Alfredo Fadraga competed in five National Baseball Series, with Ciego de Ávila, his native province, and Matanzas.
This year they have left Cuba over a hundred athletes; among them the players: Yosimar Cousín, Yunior Tur, Misael Villa, Adriel Labrada, Anthony Santa Cruz, Christian Saez, Luis Valdes, Yeison Acosta and Yadier Batista. As well as the already retired Ángel Peña, Ciro Silvino Licea, Eliut Torres Ramírez, Yoelvis Fiss and Javier Carabeo.
