Barroso's retirement is published in the Official Gazette

The early retirement of Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, from the Federal Supreme Court (STF), was recently published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU).Barroso's retirement is published in the Official Gazette

With the publication of the document, Barroso will leave office next Saturday (18). It will be up to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to appoint a new minister to the Court. There is no deadline for nomination.

Last week, Barroso announced his retirement advance of the Supreme Court. He is 67 years old and could remain on the Court until 2033.

The announcement came less than a month after Barroso leave the presidency of the STF and be target of sanctions of the United States government.

The minister took office at the Court in 2013, when he was appointed by former president Dilma Rousseff.
