The 2023 season of the Regional Formula European Championship by Alpines (FRECA) began, with the participation of Paraguayan driver Joshua Duerksen, who is in his second season in the category with the Arden Motorsport team.
The first round of the year was held today at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola, Italy.

In the rank 1, Duerksen had been setting competitive times until he encountered a timing error. a rival who forced him to abort his lap, which left him in 17th position for race 1.
Already in the same race 1, Joshua would have one of his classic starts and recovered 4 positions in the first laps. After a safety car and several fights on the track defending the attacks, he finished crossing the finish line in P15.

In the classification 2, Duerksen was coming again setting top 5 times, until a red flag stopped the session with 3 minutes left. Once the classification is relaunched, the accumulated traffic made an improvement difficult and he ended up qualifying in 15th place.

The Paraguayan again had an impressive start in race 2, getting high Q10 after a few laps with safety car incidents, until in a relaunched touch with another competitor ended up leaving him out of the race, thus ending the comeback prematurely.
The next appointment will be at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, on May 20 and 21.
