Uruguayan striker Gonzalo Mastriani and defender Leonel Quiñónez scored the goals for Barcelona accumulated 16 points in the table of positions, while the Colombian attacker Cristian Martínez Borja converted the discount goal, for which Católica was left with 8 units.

The two scoring actions determined what turned out to be a long-suffering Barcelona victory, as the host (Católica) created several clear chances to score, but these were wasted by their attackers, such as a one-on-one with Argentine striker Lizandro Alzugaray that was won by his compatriot, goalkeeper Javier Burrai.

Despite the win, Barcelona showed deficiencies in the containment work, which was more noticeable in the last 30 minutes, as a result of the exhaustion of the Uruguayan Bruno Piñatares and his companion Nixon Molina, while Byron Castillo and Jonathan Perlaza showed a low soccer level.

The changes introduced by the Barcelona coach, the Argentinian Jorge Célico, also failed to strike a balance, so all the pressure fell on Burrai and the defenders, the Argentinian Luca Sosa and the Uruguayan Carlos Rodríguez.

For its part, Emelec was victorious over League of Quitothanks to goals from Colombian Alexis Zapata and Ecuadorian Dixon Arroyo.

The win allowed Emelec seize second place in the standings, thanks to goal difference, as he accumulated the same 10 points as League.
