Bárbara Farrat Guillén denounces that the regime denies her medical care

HAVANA, Cuba. – The Cuban activist Bárbara Farrat Guillén denounced this Monday, in an interview with CubaNetthat the island’s regime is denying him medical assistance.

“For about 15 days my stomach has been swollen to the point where I look like I’m six months pregnant. Now I started with vomiting and diarrhea and I have gone to several hospitals, but none of them have treated me properly, and I am sure that behind that is the hand of the State Security“, denounced Farrat Guillén.

The first health institution he attended, he says, was the Diez de Octubre Clinical Surgical Hospital. “When they treat me, I see that all the medical staff start to look at me with a bad face and treat me in a bad way; Then they sent me to the trauma room where I waited for more than two hours for an IV and it never arrived,” he explained.

Since he did not receive the medical attention he needed there, Farrat Guillén decided to go to the Calixto García Hospital. “There they did an ultrasound and gave me an IV, but suddenly the doctor came out and, when he turned around, he told the nurse ‘Open the IV as fast as it goes because she has to go, I need this bed,'” he said. the interviewee.

Likewise, she explained that after that incident she decided to call the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) to schedule a medical appointment, since she has been registered at this hospital since 2015 for being an HIV patient. However, the response was not what I expected either: “I called to make an appointment with my doctor and, when I told her the number of my medical record, the receptionist informed me that they had removed me from the system and that I no longer had a medical record in the IPK”, he specified.

In response to this “repressive” attitude and to demand that she be provided with adequate medical care, the activist assured that she has begun to ring pots from the roof of her home, in the Diez de Octubre municipality.

“I’m going to continue with the cacerolazos until they admit me to the IPK. I am an activist and I am not going to stop being one; That’s why the regime wants to let me die,” he denounced.

Bárbara Farrat Guillén gained notoriety for her constant battle to demand the release of her son, arrested during the historic protests of July 11, 2021.

On several occasions, the activist summoned the mothers of other minors arrested during the protest to publicly demand the release of their children, which put her in the crosshairs of State Security.
