Barahona and Pedernales will join forces in the Tourist and Cultural Festival

During a meeting with representatives of the press headed by the mayors of the main municipalities of Barahona, Mictor Emilio Fernández and Pedernales, Alfredo Francés, details were offered of the tourist and cultural festival that will take place from October 4 to 12 in Barahona.

The festival is part of the traditional patron saint festivities of the pearl of the south, with Pedernales as the guest province within the framework of a strategic alliance to jointly promote themselves as a unique destination, since they complement each other as a tourist offer.

The innovative event will combine diverse cultural, recreational, artistic and sporting activities in an unprecedented integration dynamic in the region.

The event was attended by businessmen, legislators, government officials, academics and organized sectors from the provinces of Barahona and Pedernales.

The mayor of Barahona, as host city, invited all citizens to participate and join in these activities, which will be unprecedented in the southern region and especially for Barahona and Pedernal residents in Santo Domingo and abroad.

Alfredo Francés thanked the mayor of Barahona for the distinction of having Pedernales as a guest province, and said: “Without a doubt, this action will strengthen the historical ties we have and will allow us to be stronger and invite the world to discover our region.”

Edgar Félix, director of the economic canteens, when approached on the subject, stated the following: “The time has come for Barahona, Pedernales and the entire southern region that since the government of Luis Abinader there is an express will to promote the definitive development of the region that is reflected in the investment that the Dominican government makes in Pedernales as an anchor point to promote the entire south.”

The official also added that in personal terms, as a legitimate son of the region, they will support this initiative and any other aimed at promoting socioeconomic development and without fear of being wrong, this region has a unique potential in experiential tourism, natural beauty, crafts, gastronomy, beaches and rivers. “The time has come for the south and we will board the locomotive of experiential tourism that will lead us to become a prosperous region.”

The organizing committee of the Cultural Tourism Festival is headed by businessman Natamael Gutiérrez, deputy Aquiles Ledezma and artistic entrepreneur Lenin Ramírez.
