Banpro mobile wallet of a young entrepreneur from Río San Juan is looted

Banpro mobile wallet of a young entrepreneur from Río San Juan is looted

The young entrepreneur Nuris García, originally from San Miguelito, Río San Juan, reported through social networks that she was a victim of the theft of more than 30 thousand córdobas, which she had saved in her mobile wallet and Banpro account that she had linked, which was also “all its working capital.”

García, through a Tik Tok video, explained that the theft occurred two weeks ago and he found out minutes after checking his account, after a relative deposited 13,500 córdobas for an order he would place.

«That day in the morning, it was around 8 in the morning, my sister was going to deposit money with me, 13,500 córdobas, to place an order. He calls me and tells me that he already deposited them for me. I go into my wallet and see that there are only the 13,500 córdobas that he just sent me and I had 18 thousand córdobas and 400 dollars in my Banpro account, which I had linked to. The money was not there, I see the movements and withdrawals appear, which come out in the name of Elson Elvis,” García explained.

The people who perpetrated the robbery, according to García’s explanation, did so with amounts less than 3,000 córdobas, to take advantage of the security loophole of that service, which does not send a confirmation message, with a code, when withdrawals are less than that sum. .

«They began to withdraw the money from 2,900, in 2,900 córdobas, and from 99, in 99 dollars, because it turns out that if it is more than 3,000 córdobas they send you a verification code, but if it is less they don’t send you anything. So, they withdrew them like that so that nothing would reach me,” García denounced.

Banpro: “We are not responsible”

Also, she pointed out that the mobile wallet she has never sent any code to confirm the transactions, she did not give her access code or password to anyone, no one called her to try to scam her and her access code was not her date of birth for was vulnerable to said theft.

García explained that upon seeing the movements that he did not identify, he immediately called Banpro to have his wallet blocked, reporting these movements that he had not made and that “it took about half an hour to block the wallet.”

«When I entered, they (the criminals) were withdrawing the money. I noticed at 9 in the morning and the last withdrawal was at 8:50. They blocked them too late. They told me that they were false IDs and that the bank was not responsible, that they would only do an investigation. It seems to me that Banpro’s security is at rock bottom,” said the young woman from San Miguelito.

«I have not given my code to anyone, it was not my date of birth; They entered as if nothing had happened. They tell me that they sent me a message that they had logged in, but they sent me that later, when they were already logged into my account. Although I would have realized, Banpro took half an hour to block the wallet; At that time they had already stolen the money,” García added.

The young woman recommended that Nicaraguans “not leave their money in their mobile wallet,” because in Río San Juan she knows of several people who have lost their money from their accounts and the bank does not take care of it.

«To some people it may seem like little money, but for me, as an entrepreneurial girl, it is a lot of money. I wanted to die when I saw that I didn’t have the money, as you have no idea. I went to the Police and they told me no, that it had already happened on several occasions and that the bank does not give answers. I told the girl to check where they picked it up, with what ID, how are they not going to verify that the ID is valid, to which wallet they sent the money, but they didn’t give me those details. I’m just alerting you because this is happening a lot in Río San Juan. It is sad that the money that it has cost one to earn one loses just like that,” he concluded.
