Banks return to normal operations today

Bank branches will reopen normally this Thursday (26) for in-person service to the public, after being closed due to the Christmas holiday. Banks return to normal operations today

According to the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), due to the New Year celebrations, December 30th will be the last business day of the year for in-person customer service to the public, with normal opening hours for carrying out all banking operations.

On the 31st, Tuesday, there are no banking hours and bank compensations will not be carried out. Institutions will only reopen normally on January 2nd, as January 1st is a public holiday and banks are not open.

On that day, bank compensations will also not be effected, including TED. Only PIX, which operates 24 hours every day and on holidays, can be done.

Consumption bills such as water, energy and telephone, due on days when there is no bank clearing, January 31st and 1st, can be paid, without extra charges, on the following business day.

“In the case of taxes and duties, if they fall due on a holiday or on days when there is no bank clearing, payment must be made in advance, to avoid incurring interest and fines”, warns Febraban.

The federation advises account holders and the general public to use electronic media as a practical and safe alternative.

Customers can use the self-service areas at available branches, and the banks’ digital cell phone and computer channels to make transfers and pay bills and other services.

Bank slips from customers registered as electronic drawers can be paid via Authorized Direct Debit (DDA).
