Banking hours have changes at the end of the year

The end of year festivities will change banking hours over the next two weeks. On December 24th, Christmas Eve, banks will have reduced opening hours to the public, from 9am to 11am, Brasília time. On New Year’s Eve, the 31st, there will be no business hours and bank compensations will not be carried out, including TED.Banking hours have changes at the end of the year

According to the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), only PIX, a system that operates 24 hours a day and on holidays, can be used normally.

On December 25th and January 1st, national holidays, there are no banking hours and financial institutions are not open for in-person service to the public. Bank compensations will also not be effective on these dates.

On the 23rd, 26th, 27th and 30th of December the agencies operate normally, as well as from the 2nd of January.

Consumption bills (water, energy, telephone, etc.) due on days when there is no bank clearing – 12/25, 12/31 and 01/01 – may be paid, without extra charges, on the following business day. In the case of taxes and duties, if they are due on a holiday or on days when there is no bank clearing, payment must be made in advance, to avoid incurring interest and fines.

“Normally, taxes come with dates adjusted to the calendar of national, state and municipal holidays”, informed Febraban.

If this has not occurred in the collection document, the entity suggests making payment in advance or, in the case of titles that have a barcode, scheduling payment at ATMs, digital channels, such as websites and applications, or via the banks’ telephone service.

Resolution of the National Monetary Council (CMN) does not consider Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays as business days, for the purposes of banking operations, and bank branches do not operate on official holidays, whether municipal, state or federal.

“Electronic means are a practical and extremely safe alternative for customers, who can use the self-service areas at available branches, and the digital channels (cell phones and computers) of banks, to carry out transfers and pay bills, and other services. ”, highlighted Febraban.

Bank slips from customers registered as electronic drawers can be paid via DDA (Authorized Direct Debit).
