SANTO DOMINGO.-More than eight police officers were arrested through Operation Pandora, after being linked to a criminal structure directed by Colonel Narciso Antonio Féliz Romero, in charge of Custody of Weapons and Ammunition, from where more than 900 thousand projectiles were stolen.

In addition to Colonel Féliz Romero, the captains were also arrested: Subintendant Juan Miguel Pérez Soler; the person in charge of the Weapons, Ammunition and Equipment Depot, Nelson Valdez; auditor Víctor Manuel Santos Rodríguez and second lieutenant Marino Antonio Rodríguez Toribio, gunsmith of the Cibao Central Regional Directorate.

Sergeant Major Miguel Ángel Gómez Espaillat, Corporal Juan Luis Díaz Medina, privates Rubiel Martínez Escobar and Moreibin Medina Pérez and the implicated Miguelina Bello Segura, key players in the operational part of the criminal organization dismantled through Operation Pandora.

According to the Public Ministry, officer Santos Rodríguez would have altered the results of an audit carried out in February to hide the theft of hundreds of ammunition.

Santos Rodríguez teamed up with the leaders of the criminal network to try to manipulate the audit numbers again after becoming aware of the investigation of the case, an irregular action detected by the authorities carrying out the investigation.

Those involved in the organization were arrested during raids carried out in the National District and in the provinces of Santo Domingo, Santiago, Sánchez Ramírez and Pedernales through court orders issued by a competent person in those jurisdictions.

During the operation. The Public Ministry seized weapons, projectiles, digital evidence, hundreds of economic transactions, testimonial evidence and data extracted from electronic devices, evidence that will be presented before a judge of the National District Investigation.

In these investigation proceedings, it is revealed that the members of the organization committed disciplinary and criminal violations.

The Public Ministry deepens the investigation to identify others involved in the criminal structure of the Pandora case.

Investigation. Those involved in the Pandora case, headed by the Mayor of the Police, Narciso Antonio Féliz Romero, along with others involved in the theft of ammunition from the institution, will be informed of a measure of coercion in the next few hours.

This, after the Public Ministry deposits the request for a coercive measure before a judge of the Permanent Attention Office of the National District, after the accusation of association of criminals to commit robbery, and other crimes.

Meanwhile, the jurists Mara Beato and Vinicio Figuereo, lawyers for the arrested Colonel Féliz Romero and Captain Juan Miguel Pérez Soler, assured that they are innocent of the events that involve them.
