Banco Popular, reconocido como agente de inclusión

Banco Popular Dominicano was recognized as an “Inclusion Agent” by the National Council on Disability (CONADIS) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for its policies, good practices and the development of initiatives in favor of People with disabilities.

In addition to this distinction, Banco Popular received nine RD Includes stamps in its 2022 version, which recognized inclusive practices, such as the Popular for All inclusion program, the census of employees with disabilities and the adaptations for accessibility of the new Parque Hábitat and Villa Mella II Hermanas Mirabal offices.

Likewise, the accessibility tool on the Popularenlinea.com web portal, designed for people with visual, cognitive and mobility disabilities, as well as the dissemination of sign language in the field of customer service, the inclusion of the National School of the Deaf in the Popular Excellence scholarship program and the Accessible Training Center for collaborators.

Likewise, the bank also received an award for having contemplated an innovation project on universal accessibility within its Challenge Popular university entrepreneurship marathon.

In the last two years, the bank has obtained 24 RD Includes stamps, which certify good practices that promote the inclusion and full development of people with disabilities and their families in the country.

Promoters of social inclusion

Regarding these recognitions, Mrs. Antonia Antón de Hernández, Senior Executive Vice President of Human Management, Cultural Transformation, Credit Administration and Compliance, stated that “as promoters of social inclusion, our commitment seeks to improve the experience of our clients and collaborators with disabilities, through the establishment and strengthening of an accessible bank and inclusive, that reduces the barriers of access to our physical and digital facilities and to the services and products offered”.

In this way, aligned with the Principles of Responsible Banking and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this year Popular signed a collaboration agreement with CONADIS to continue increasing equal rights, inclusion and access for people with disabilities in the bank.

At present, the organization financiera has 13 inclusive branches and more than 60% of its ATMs have been adapted for the use of people with disabilities. Within a period of five years, the objective of increasing its workforce of collaborators with some type of disability by 10% has been proposed.
