As every year, the social program of the Ministry of the Interior “Pelota al Medio a la Esperanza” carried out an assessment and recognized the actions of all its members, both the young participants and the teachers and referents who work and support the processes.
In this sense, an integration day was held as a closure of activities where young people who participated in practices, played matches for the championship, and in their studies were awarded, where there were also several recognitions.
The director of Coexistence and Citizen Security of the Ministry of the Interior, Santiago González, was present at this conference, who highlighted the task that the teachers and leaders of the program have sustained throughout these years with a good framework of adhesion on the part of the young people .
The main recognition was for the Under 16 category of Pelota al Medio, which was crowned champion of the Silver Cup of the University League, also counting on the top scorer of the tournament, Pablo Barreto, who scored 16 goals.
Those players who excelled in their studies, achieving exemption from subjects at the high school level and being champions in Sub 16 and with good performances in Sub 18 are also recognized.
“This work transforms realities,” he said, adding that “where the program is there is a transformation and that commits us to continue working and improving.”
González added that they are seeking to consolidate and expand the program to other places that are being analyzed, such as Tres Ombúes, for example, which implies concentrating the people who are there to work in places where they can be in the territory and be able to achieve the transformations that are intended “This is being analyzed, if it will be only in Montevideo, or if it can be extended to the interior of the country as well,” he concluded.
