The brand new president of the Republic, José María Balcázarwas approached by the press to question his links with the fugitive Vladimir Cerrón, owner of the Perú Libre party through which the president himself came to Congress.
“I have not contacted any leader, but I am going to call him,” said the president in response to whether the owner of his party had already contacted him.
“We have to take their opinion, friends. Here we cannot prejudge anyone,” responded the president after hearing that Vladimir Cerrón is a fugitive from Peruvian justice.
Regarding whether the search for Cerrón by the police will continue, the president affirmed yes. “That, obviously, that [lo verá] the police and the Judiciary. But what I want is to summon the fundamental leaders.”
However, when asked if he would keep PNP commander General Oscar Arriola, Balcázar did not answer and decided to retire.

“The new president of the republic must combat citizen insecurity starting with the loss of the general commander of the PNP, Óscar Arriola Delgado, who demonstrated totally inefficient management,” wrote the owner of Perú Libre.
