At least 1,035 people were injured by gunpowder in Colombia during December 2024a figure that represents a decrease of 18.1% compared to the 1,263 cases registered in the last month of 2023, the National Institute of Health (INS) reported this January 1.

That organization detailed in a bulletin that in December of last year one person died, while in the same period of 2023 there were two fatalities due to gunpowder.

Meanwhile, of the total injured, 310 were minors and 725 were adults. The place with the most victims is Bogotá, with 125, followed by the departments of Antioquia (120), Nariño (79), Norte de Santander (72), Cauca (58) and Cundinamarca (45)..
The majority of those injured, 64.7%, suffered burns while handling gunpowder, while 27.4% did so as observers.
