Balance covid-19: 2,897 new cases and 42 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours

In a new balance regarding covid-19, the Ministry of Health reported 2,897 cases and 42 deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours. Positivity at the country level is 4.52%, while in the Metropolitan Region it is 5.8%.

Since the start of the pandemic, 3,538,843 people have contracted the virus, of which 8,886 are in the active stage. Counting the 42 deaths registered yesterday, 57,325 have been fatalities due to the coronavirus.

Regarding the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level, it is -27% and -50% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, all regions decreased their cases in the last seven and 14 days.

According to sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are O’Higgins, Valparaíso, Magallanes and Metropolitana.

Meanwhile, the Magallanes region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Aysén, Valparaíso, and Ñuble regions.

To date, 295 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 213 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 340 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.

Regarding the Sanitary Residences, we have 30 accommodation facilities, with a total of 2,915 beds. The actual occupation at the national level is 21%, leaving a total of 1,894 beds available for use.
