MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban regime imposed fines of up to 8,000 pesos on bakery workers in the La Lisa municipality of the capital for illegalities.
According to reported This week the Provincial Government of the People’s Power of Havana, carried out an operation on October 23 in the bakeries La Milanesa, La Pionera, Nueva Lisa, La Elena, Plaza de Mayo and Nueva Joya.
According to the official note, these bakeries had retained merchandise not exposed in sales areas; they violated the standard in the 80 gr regulated bread product and all the weighings were well below the standards; and failed to meet production plans without justification.
In the case of La Milanesa, the Cuban authorities said they had withheld the product, spicy sauce, and a surplus of 92 liters of oil.
In La Pionera “the violation of the 80 gr regulated bread standard was detected. 13 weighings were carried out, all below the established range, their weight oscillating between 40 and 48 grams per unit”, indicates the document.
According to primary documentation, 2,606 units of 80-g bread, equivalent to 154.37 kg of wheat flour, were not produced, and neither the finished product nor the raw material was found in the unit; and it was verified in the safe of the administrator’s office, a cash amounting to 3,395 pesos without documentary support of sale.
In La Elena, shortages and surpluses were found in the warehouse, such as wheat flour (-44.8 kg), yeast (-2 kg), oil (+ 11.6 kg) and salt (+12.3 kg), and an ascending cash was verified. at 2000 pesos without documentary sales support.
After the operation, the authorities decided to request administrative measures and immediate changes of administrators of the bakeries.
Most Cubans access bread through the supply book, which guarantees one daily per consumer. Historically, the quality of this product has been questioned due to the lack of essential ingredients for its manufacture.
The shortage of bread for the population contrasts with its abundance in the so-called stores in freely convertible currency, in hotels and other tourist centers.
